The role and opportunity

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with us, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and scalability of our critical systems. You'll work across all of our architecture, from designing and architecting resilient systems to implementing automation and tooling for streamlined operations. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of our transformation to a SaaS provider. You will be working alongside our highly collaborative team and with support from external AWS accredited architects.

Key Responsibilities
Software development:

Refactoring, consolidating/dividing services as required to fit with our SaaS objectives
Collaborating closely with Back End developers in the product teams to minimise risks to on-going feature development

System Monitoring and Incident Response:

Monitor the health and performance of our systems and applications using various monitoring tools and dashboards
Respond promptly to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to minimise downtime and impact on users

Fault Tolerance and Disaster Recovery:

Design and implement fault-tolerant systems and architectures to ensure high availability and resilience
Defensive Programming / Chaos Engineering mindset
No compulsory out of hours support / on call

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Development:

Design, develop, and maintain infrastructure automation scripts and templates using tools such as Terraform
Implement best practices for IaC to ensure infrastructure is version-controlled, reproducible, and scalable

AWS Architecture and Deployment:

Architect, deploy, and manage AWS services and solutions
Optimise AWS architecture for cost efficiency, performance, and scalability
Identify bottlenecks and areas for optimisation in our infrastructure and applications, and implement solutions to improve efficiency

Security and Compliance:

Implement security best practices and compliance standards for AWS environments

Experience required

Significant experience within engineering/DevOps/SRE discipline
Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-traffic, production environment
Proficiency in Golang
Hands-on experience with Docker
Solid understanding of networking principles, distributed systems, and cloud computing platforms
Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools
Excellent problem-solving skills

In return for your contribution we offer a base salary of £75,000 - £95,000 DOE + benefits
