Biography
I love coding, troubleshooting, learning, and generally anything that involves solving problems with code.
I started programming to save time and lighten my workload as a sole-proprietor of an online/offline custom manufacturing business. I was successful in creating coded solutions for my business using, AutoIT, Python, and Go and felt that a career in coding would be more satisfying than the sole-proprietorship I was running.
My brother has a successful career with Juniper Networks and with his guidance I have adopted Golang as my language of choice.
Skills
I love solving problems with code and Go is my language of choice. I am great with troubleshooting, end user experience, and I am good at bridging the gap between the real world and code.
My editor of choice is Vim and I can work on Linux, Windows, and Mac environments.
Since 2005 I have been doing front and backend web coding including Wordpress, PHP, MySQL, CSS, and HTML. I have written and edited scripts in Javascript, AutoIt, C, C++, and Python.
My first published project is github.com/robscodebase/amazon. This package contains functions for getting product data and third party shipping information from amazon.com. The amazon api does not currently offer third party shipping data and my functions will get and parse this data from any html source.
To learn Computer Science I watched Intro to Computer Science from Harvard 2014 and 2015, Intro to CS MIT, and Intro to CS Stanford. I've watched over 200 hours of college lectures on computer science, in addition I took the Lynda course on C.
I am currently finishing "The Go Programming Language", "Understanding and Using C Pointers", and "Elements of Programming Interviews".
What I look for
I want to solve problems with code. I am willing to work with groups, consult, design, and end use.
