Job description
Float Health is building the marketplace for specialty pharmacy. Our mission is to make healthcare safer, easier, and more efficient by moving all care that doesnโt need a hospital to the home.
Float connects nurses with patients so they can get treatments for their chronic conditions in the home rather than going into the overcrowded hospital. The model is unique in that all stakeholders benefit - patients get more convenient care, nurses get access to flexible work for better pay on their days off, pharmacies fill more prescriptions, impacted hospitals reduce admission for loss-leading low reimbursement patients, and payors enjoy 12x reduced costs when care is delivered at home.
Our patients are largely chronic, requiring regular treatments to sustain their quality of life. Nurses are burnt out with hectic hospital shifts and love that our platform allows them the flexibility and autonomy to create their own schedules. Providers want reliability, quality, and minimal effort to find nurses for their prescriptions.
Float is a Y Combinator W22 alum, fast-growing startup. We are distributed across the world and remote-first. We care deeply about communication, empathy, curiosity, autonomy, and velocity of execution. We just closed our Series A in 2023, making it the perfect time to come onboard to change the way healthcare is delivered.
The Role
The Float technical platform serves nurses, patients, pharmacies, as well as an internal operations team, each with unique needs from both a product and technical perspective.
We are looking for a senior software engineer to join us at a pivotal time. Weโve staffed over 12,000 visits to-date, now we must build out our software platform, scaling to more geos, more nurses, and more patient visits.
You will build software that automates the complex set of interactions across these personas, providing better experiences for patients, helping nurses better utilize their skills and expertise, and increasing the efficiency of our internal ops team.
What youโll do:
Uphold a high bar for technical excellence by participating in technical discussions, providing feedback on specs, and making recommendations.
Ship and own high-impact products end-to-end.
Propose, lead, and rollout technical initiatives that align the team with industry best practices for code quality, observability, and testing.
Maintain an understanding of the business requirements and work closely with stakeholders to understand what they need and why. Turning ambiguous problem statements into actionable plans.
Participate in cross-team collaboration, incorporating internal and external feedback into the engineering roadmap, and driving the execution of delivery.
Communicate engineering strategy with other leaders to ensure that the products being built are truly elevating the organization and enabling us to move the business forward.
Required skills:
7+ years of professional experience as a software engineer.
Core competency in general software engineer practice.
Experience working in early-stage product development.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to drive technical progress through ambiguity and rapid change.
While we have an international team, this role is US based.
Preferred skills:
Experience working on marketplace products.
BS/MS/PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
Experience in Golang, Web Services, and API Development.
Experience in Frontend technologies.
Exposure to AWS, terraform, and Docker.
Experience analyzing data and interacting with databases.
Experience working in a distributed team environment.
Benefits:
Medical, dental, vision
401k matching
Unlimited PTO with minimum days
Paid parental leave
Remote work stipend
HSA & FSA
Voluntary Life, Accident, Hospital, and Critical Illness Insurance
Compensation:
Compensation for this role consists of a base salary and a generous options grant, with the base salary expected to range from $175,000 to $200,000 per year. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidateโs experience and location.
