About the company
We aim to provide the best match for anyone looking for student accommodation. We are a peer-to-peer marketplace, meaning that you will be building an application to satisfy both sides of the student accommodation market (supply and demand). Housing Anywhere is active in 54 countries and nearly 500 cities. We have partnered with 130+ universities worldwide. You will join our very international team in Rotterdam, Netherlands. We're currently at a team size of just over 40 people, carrying 14 different nationalities. We've recently closed a new investment round and continue to grow the team. If you're from outside the EU, we will reimburse the costs of your Visa. We organise social events on about a weekly basis (dinners, drinks, sports, etc.) as we like to hang out with each other outside of work too (don't worry, nothing's mandatory).

Job description
At Housing Anywhere, we aim to provide the best match for anyone looking for student accommodation. We are a peer-to-peer marketplace, meaning that you will be building an application to satisfy both sides of the student accommodation market. Housing Anywhere is active in 54 countries and nearly 500 cities. We have partnered with 130+ universities worldwide.

Currently, our marketplace is built in Go (Golang) backed by a PostgreSQL database. The server components are hosted on a Google Cloud architecture that allows easy scaling. Other technologies and tools that we use are ReactJS, Redux, SASS, Webpack, Redis and GraphQL.

You will join our very international team in Rotterdam, Netherlands. We're currently at a team size of just over 40 people, carrying 14 different nationalities. We've recently closed a new investment round and continue to grow the team. If you're from outside the EU, we will reimburse the costs of your Visa.

Our product team currently consists of 8 people (Product Lead, Product Manager, 2 Front-end developers, 3 back-end developers and a UX/UI Designer. We are scaling up our product team to 16 people (of which 10 will be engineers). We are looking for talented engineers who have proven work experience in solving complex problems in the related domain and who are keen to join a world-class team in a fast-growing and rapidly changing environment.

Skills & requirements
Characteristics we are looking for in a Senior Software Engineer:

- Proactive and open mindset
- Structured and well-organized
- Team player
- Ability to find a clean and simple solution that could be easily adapted for changed requirements in time
- Interest in new technologies

Required experience:

- An educational background in the field of Computer Science or similar is preferable
- Have good knowledge of CI/CD and TDD
- Working experience in a common programming language besides Go, e.g. C, C++, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, etc
- Database knowledge on queries and maintenance (preferably PostgreSQL or another relational database)
- Code versioning in Git
- Basic understanding of computer security fundamentals and security-minded programming.
- Experience with agile methodologies for software development (e.g. Scrum/Kanban)
- Experience with online marketplaces, service providers and API development is a bonus
- Fluent in English
